“You have captivated my heart, my sister, my bride; you have captivated my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace.” -Song of Songs 4:9
Many years ago the Holy Spirit gave me some dating advice. He said, “It’s not a Song of Songs unless both people are singing it!”
Well, the same thing holds true of us and God. The scripture says that He’s singing over us, but what He’s really looking for is for us to start singing back! God wants a Song of Songs, He’s not interested in singing solo!
What’s the definition of romance?
-
a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.
-
a quality or feeling of mystery, excitement, and remoteness from everyday life.
If that doesn’t fit having a relationship with Jesus, I don’t know what does! The more I know Him, the more I love Him. Jesus doesn’t grow boring through discovery. His love is new every morning, and His ways and thoughts toward me are intriguing.
“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.” -Psalm 139:17-18
It’s not an exaggeration to say that when I’m in the arms of Jesus I’m delirious with love. He takes me to another place, He transports me to another realm.
“I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if you find my beloved, that you tell him I am sick with love.” -Song of Songs 5:8
The Song of Songs tells me that Jesus is completely taken by me! And guess what? His love is not without effect. I can’t get enough of Jesus. I’m completely taken by Him too!
