“From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”” -Matthew 4:17
Why are we afraid to tell people to repent? The entire Bible, from the beginning to the end, points out the importance and need of it.
The Old Testament prophets preached repentance, and Jesus, as well as the Apostles, preached it.
“First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds.” -Acts 26:20
There is much that passes for the prophetic today that has nothing to do with the prophetic at all. We have people running around calling themselves prophets and yet never speak about repentance!
Hear the word of the Lord you who call yourselves prophets of God!
“But if they had stood in my council, they would have proclaimed my words to my people and would have turned them from their evil ways and from their evil deeds.” -Jeremiah 23:22
