“His speech is most sweet, and He is altogether desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend…” -Song of Songs 5:11
Many know the Jesus of religion. That’s not the Jesus I know.
The Jesus I know is altogether desirable. His voice is sweet and I love to hear it. He is incomparably beautiful and I’m totally in love with Him. He’s not just my God, He’s my friend and the lover of my soul.
Jesus came to earth to get a bride
Have you seen that Jesus came to pursue you? That He left the most beautiful place in existence to come to where you are? He gave everything just to have you!
Until the Song of Songs becomes the language of your heart, you haven’t really come to know Him.
Affection, desire, and passion find their highest expressions in the arms of God, not in the arms of another human being.
The word of God tells us that in the next life there will not be marriage between men and women.
“At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.” -Matthew 22:30
The reason, I believe, that God will not allow marriage in heaven between men and women is because we are to be married to Him!
A wedding in heaven
God’s not waiting to plan the wedding or the wedding feast. He’s had this in His mind the whole time. Before you and I ever said yes, God was making preparations!
“Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure.” -Revelation 19:7-8
The revelation of John begins with seeing Jesus in all of His risen glory. It ends with seeing us married to the lamb of God, the Lord Jesus Christ!
“And I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God, having been prepared as a bride, having been adorned for her Husband.” –Revelation 21:2
Jesus did not come to earth to start a religion called Christianity. He’s actually
the author of the greatest love story ever written.
Jesus left heaven to get a bride for Himself. The thought of that thrills me!
Let this be the prayer of every heart that longs for Him…
“Draw me after you; let us run! The king has brought me into His chambers!”– Song of Songs 1:4
