Walking With God

“Can two walk together unless they’re in agreement?” -Amos 3:3

How can I walk with God unless I’m in agreement with Him?

If He thinks one thing, and I think a different thing, and we’re going in totally different directions how can we walk together? What kind of friendship can I expect to have with God if I’m not like-minded with Him? How enjoyable of a relationship can I expect it to be if I’m opposing Him at every turn? If we don’t like doing the same kind of things what is that going to look like? Can I really expect to drag God into places He doesn’t want to go? How much fun is that going to be??

Our enjoyment of God is based upon our agreement with God. I can honestly say that it’s my experience that the more I come into agreement with God the more wonderful our relationship becomes. When I stop trying to pull in another direction and start going the way He’s going, what a wonderful thing it is!

I dare say we make it more enjoyable for God too when we walk with Him instead of against Him. We’re told that the Holy Spirit can be grieved. Do I really think that God enjoys my resistance? He wants to go North, but I want to go South. He wants to go East, but I want to go West. The Holy Spirit is a person, how much do you think He enjoys that?

The scriptures say that Enoch walked with God. We can be sure that means that Enoch went the direction that God was going! The two were in agreement because Enoch made up his mind to agree with the mind of God, not the other way around. The satisfaction that God had with Enoch was such that it says one day Enoch was “no more”= God just took Him!

How wonderful is that!!

I think there’s no more wonderful thing in the world than to walk with God. Whether it be in the present age, or the age to come, and that only happens when we’re in agreement with Him.

“Enoch walked with God, and he was no more, for God took him.” -Genesis 5:24
