“Greet one another with a holy kiss.” -1 Corinthians 13:12
I believe God wants to marry love and holiness in His people.
I’m being a bit allegorical here, but I love what God is showing me!
A holy kiss!
A holy love is what God is after in His people. His desire is to marry love and holiness. To join them together to the point where they become one flesh in us!
“God so loved the world…” -John 3:16
God so loved us with a holy love. It’s who He is, and it’s how He loves!
Baptized into the holy love of God
I had a supernatural experience when I was baptized in the Holy Spirit. Someone was laying hands on me during worship and a moment came when a “Hand from Heaven” passed through that human hand and went straight through my back into the center of my being. As it did, the Presence of God exploded inside of me and I had an experience similar to what Paul describes.
“Only God knows whether I was in my body or outside my body.” -2 Corinthians 12:3
I was instantly aware of being enveloped in the Presence of God and no longer felt like I was in the Coliseum where I was standing.
I was in the presence of perfect love and perfect holiness in equal measure.
Imagine a scale with love on one side, and holiness on the other. The same proportion of each perfectly balanced all around me.
His holiness exposed every single thing in me that was wrong, while His love wrapped His arms around me in total acceptance!
He spoke one sentence-
“I have seen the vilest things that you have ever done, AND I LOVE YOU.”
Not I love you if, not I love you except for- just, “I love you”.
I began to sob uncontrollably.
I knew that Jesus did not love me because I was so lovable. The holiness of God does not lie. God showed me that I was completely sinful in His sight. At the same time, I knew that I was completely accepted because of what Jesus had done for me. I was totally loved by God, and everything had been made right because of the sacrifice of Jesus.
THIS IS THE GOSPEL.
Love and Holiness meet and kiss!
THIS IS HEAVEN
Where all cry holy, holy, holy and all are perfectly loved.
God wants His people to understand that the love of God was given to us when we were at our worst. The great statement from the Bible is that Christ showed His love to us by dying for us “while we were yet sinners.” And if He died for us when we were at our worst we never have to be afraid of His rejection.
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us! He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? -Romans 8:31-32
This is the confidence that I have in Him: He knew exactly what He was getting into when He chose me. There’s nothing about me that’s hidden from Him and He chose to love me anyway. You know what that means? Jesus isn’t going anywhere! His love is my permanent possession.
A revival of love and holiness
I”m praying for a great move of God to come upon the earth- a revival that joins His holiness and love together in equal measure.
We truly cannot understand the one without the other.
In the light of His holiness I see my utter sinfulness and understand how much I’ve been forgiven, how completely I’ve been loved.
