“This is what the LORD has said, ‘Make many cisterns in this valley,’ for this is what the LORD has said, ‘You will not feel any wind or see any rain, but this valley will be full of water, and you and your cattle and animals will drink.’ This is an easy task for the LORD.” -2 Kings 3:16-18
In the Hebrew it literally means be making this valley “cisterns, cisterns”. It’s doubled to emphasize the limitless capability of God. God is basically saying “Dig as many cisterns as you possibly can and I’m going to fill them! And I’ll do it without any kind of wind or rain- in other words, without using any kind of natural means whatsoever. I’m going to miraculously fill them with water.”
And besides all that, He says it’s super easy for Him to do!!!
I love this aspect too… the prophesy came with music. Elisha calls for a harpist before he gives his prophetic word.
“But now bring me a harpist.” While the harpist was playing, the hand of the Lord came on Elisha and he said, “This is what the Lord says: I will fill this valley with pools of water. For this is what the Lord says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink. This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord.” -2 Kings 3:15–18
