An author I really respect said something that I really disagree with.
While speaking about revival he said the older generations have “had their chance”, and that the coming revival is “not for them”. He went on to say how God is targeting Gen Z.
Ummm. Excuse me???
What in the world is this guy even talking about? Has he ever read the prophet Joel??
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on ALL FLESH; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit. -Joel 2:28-29
The outpouring of the Spirit isn’t for a certain age group or generation! It’s not for a select chosen group- it’s for ALL flesh!
I wish I could say that this guy was the only one making foolish statements like this, but I’ve heard many pastors say the same thing!
I’m as thrilled as anyone to see God working in young people. But to be honest, it’s totally awesome when God works in ANYBODY of ANY age!
I’m so glad that God’s not into ageism.
If He was, I’d be in trouble!
I’m many years older than Gen Z. I’m afraid I’d be left to wither up and die if God was like that! He’d be pouring water out on the thirsty ground, but skipping the little patch of land that I’m standing on!
I wonder if this guy has ever considered the fact that maybe there’s a lot of older people that need revival just as much as younger people? You could even make the argument that older people need it more because they’re one step away from the grave! This might be their last chance to be revived before they die!!!
I’m joking obviously, but there’s actually some truth in it.
I think this sort of thing is just another example of how the world creeps into the church.
I live in the United States and it’s all about youth.
The only problem with that is youth doesn’t last very long! The poor Millennials used to be the Gen Z’s of their day. They were the “Generation of Revival” at one time- but nobody talks much about them anymore.
I guess they’re too old to be relevant, huh? Too wrinkled to be anointed??
And God help the Baby Boomers! Are they even breathing??? If you believe what this guy has to say they “had their chance” to be “Jesus People” in the 70’s!
I wish the church would stop preaching the world and start preaching The Kingdom of God.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. -Galatians 3:28
The Kingdom of God is ETERNAL. We need to stop looking at things the way the world does.
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. -2 Corinthians 5:16
