The Other Side

“On that day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” -Mark 4:35

If you’re walking closely with Jesus, there will come a time when He says to you, “Let us go across to the other side.”

You’ve gone as far as you can go on the shore you’re now standing on. Jesus has walked with you there, and shared His heart with you. You’ve sat down in the sand, had a meal and enjoyed the light of His fire on that shoreline, but now He’s asking you to get in the boat and “go across to the other side.”

When God gives vision for our life we need to understand that the starting place and the ending place are usually different!

We’ve been in one place, but now He wants to take us forward. He has His eyes on “a point of destiny” but destiny is “on the other side”.

Your destiny is ALWAYS on the other side.

The children of Israel had to cross the Red Sea to get to the other side.

Once again at the Jordan River, they were called to go across to the other side!

He never calls us to go to the other side alone. He gets in the boat with us, but He does call us to go to the other side.

I’m sure the Disciples of Jesus had no problem getting in the boat with Him when Jesus said, “Let us go across to the other side!”

What they didn’t know was that between the two shorelines they would find themselves in the middle of a storm.

The voice of Jesus led them straight into a storm!

They didn’t have the safety of either shoreline to protect them from the storm.

And Jesus planned it that way.

Surrounded by stormy seas and fierce winds all they had was Jesus with them in the boat!

Can you trust that the one who said “Let’s go across to the other side”, said it for a reason, and is actually going to get you there, even though there’s a storm all around you right now?

You are going to get to the other side, but it’s not going to be because you’re able to get there on your own. You will get there because Jesus is with you.

At the appropriate time He will speak the words, “Peace! Be still!”, and not only will the waves and wind come to calm, but your own heart will find rest. You will find such great awe, wonder and delight in Him that you may even forget that you were “going to the other side”!

He will bring you to “the place of promise” but your greatest joy will be His person and Presence!
